Step 1: Preparing the Head for Molding

Start by ensuring the client’s head is clean and dry.
Use a cling wrap around the client’s head, starting from the forehead and continuing all the way around to the nape of the neck.
While the cling wrap is in place, use a pen to mark the bald areas clearly on it. This step is crucial for identifying the regions that will require the tape.
The cling wrap should be snug but not tight, to accurately capture the shape of the head.
Make sure it adheres smoothly to avoid wrinkles or air bubbles, ensuring a clean, precise mold.

Step 2: Applying the Tape to the Mold

After wrapping the client’s head with cling wrap, start applying the custom toupee template tape over the bald areas, working from the front to the back. Begin by carefully placing the tape along the forehead, pressing it smoothly onto the film. Make sure to overlap each layer slightly, ensuring there are no gaps between the strips. It’s important to maintain an even thickness of tape throughout the application, so the mold is consistent.
Once the first layer is in place, change direction and apply the next layer of tape, this time working from side to side or diagonally across the head. This cross-layering technique reinforces the mold and adds extra stability. Continue layering the tape in this manner, gradually covering the entire bald area with multiple layers, ensuring the mold is secure and uniform.
After finishing the taping process, press firmly on the edges to ensure everything is adhered properly and there are no loose areas.

Step 3: Removing the Cling Wrap and Finalizing the Mold

After applying the tape, carefully remove the cling wrap from the client’s head.
Cut along the marked areas to shape the head mold, following the contours precisely.
Once the mold is cut down, mark the sections (e.g., crown, temples, back) for accurate toupee production. Your custom head mold is now complete and ready for use.
